Our church began a pastoral search in January of 2019. Our Board of Deacons, who served as the search committee, worked with Vanderbloemen Search Group to find candidates who fit our criteria. This past October, the Board of Deacons unanimously selected Marty Sloan as the candidate that they would present to the congregation. Voting members of Calvary elected Marty Sloan as our next lead pastor during a special business meeting on Sunday evening, Nov. 10. The vote was 98% in favor. Our current lead pastor, Pastor Randal Ross, will retire this December, and Pastor Marty will begin in January of 2020.
Hi! My name is Marty Sloan. I am a Christ follower, husband, father and pastor who is passionate about communicating the Word of God and enabling people of all ages and cultures to experience life in Christ. My desire is to know Christ and make Him known to others. I have been an ordained minister since 2000 and have served in ministry for 25 years, including various staff roles.
Growing up in a pastor's home, I've spent my entire life around the local church and ministering the Gospel in various forms and places. I have served on various community and charitable organization boards. My greatest personal joy in ministry is seeing a life changed! Seeing greed turn to generosity, selfishness to sacrifice and our way turned to His way.
My personal interests are family, reading, weightlifting and football. My wife, Becky, and I have been married since 1994 and have two sons: Chandler and Landon. Chandler is a senior history major at University of Arkansas, and Landon is a freshman theology/pastoral ministry major at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.
In our family, we like the motto, "faith, family and football"! We love the Ohio State Buckeyes (both of our families live in Ohio) and Denver Broncos. We also enjoy traveling and taking family missions trips. Some of our favorite places to visit are Alaska, Colorado, Israel and Greece. We love meeting people from all walks of life!
