A message from Pastor Marty on Monday, March 30:
It saddens my heart to tell you that Pastor Angel Escamilla has passed away from this life. I know that we prayed for his earthly healing in hopes that he would remain with us. Our prayers were not in vain, as they turned our hearts toward the hope we place in heaven.
I personally found Pastor Angel to be a man of strong faith in the Lord, a man in the Word, and a man of GREAT prayer! If anyone ever spoke into the heavens in prayer, it was Pastor Angel. He will be forever missed on our team and in the church family.
Here is an update from his son, Pastor Michael Escamilla: "Because of the difficult circumstances we are facing right now in our country, we are waiting to make plans for a memorial service. I know there will be many of you who will want to be present to help us celebrate his home going and convey your love and support. After we are able to meet in large gatherings again, our family will convey the details of a time to celebrate His life."
Calvary Church stands committed to the Escamilla family at this time and requests that you continue to pray for them! They sorrow—but not without hope! I stand with them in the knowledge that Pastor Angel has stepped into his heavenly reward and is with his heavenly Father.
With a broken yet hopeful heart, holding to I Thessalonians 4!

A message from Pastor Alberto:
Our Pastor Angel fought the good fight, and his race is over. [Sunday] he was greeted in heaven, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the presence of your Lord." Angel has passed into eternity, and he is where we all want to be one day: in the eternal presence of God.
On behalf of Calvary Español, we join the celebration and appreciation of the Escamilla family for the privilege of having known such a great man as our Pastor Angel. Also, let us unite in prayer, that Christ may be their peace, strength and comfort in times like these. We pray for the whole Calvary family, and we know that God's got this!

Earlier, members from the Escamilla family shared their hearts on Facebook:
From Becky Escamilla, widow:
My Dear Calvary Family,
Greetings from the Escamilla family. As for me, my life was already poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is coming. I fought the good battle, finished the race and stayed faithful. Now awaits me the prize, the crown of righteousness that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not only for me but for all who wait for his coming. God is faithful! He is the keeper of the promise! God of miracles! True to his word!
I want to thank you for all your prayers and support during this time. Angel has made his step from this life into the presence of God. We cry, but we are not hopeless. The impression of his life has affected many. It's impossible to count the lives he impacted. He will live in our hearts forever.
From Michael Escamilla, son:
Thank you everyone for all the texts, prayers and support for our family during this time. Your expression of love has been overwhelming. Thank you.
We have prayed for God to bring healing through this process. We are confident that God has heard every prayer that has been uttered. We serve a God who is faithful and true to His word! Each of us has had the opportunity to talk with Dad and express our love for him. Sunday [March 29] evening, we were notified that Dad had passed away.
As difficult as this is, God has given us a peace through this process. As followers of Jesus, we face this weird paradox of saying goodbye and knowing our father died, and this strange belief that, in another sense, HE HAS NEVER BEEN MORE ALIVE! He has left what is temporary and stepped into the power of God’s presence in eternity. That tension creates a feeling of grief and unexplainable joy, all within the same moment.
If you have ever had the privilege of being around my dad, you know the amazing man of God he is. Dad lived every day of his life to leave a spiritual legacy for those who would follow him. Just a few days ago, one of his grandkids said to Papi: “You gave us a legacy and life to strive to be like.” Our family will be shaped and blessed because of the legacy of our Dad. Future generations will love, bless others, minister and lead their families well because Dad started a new legacy for the Escamillas.
As I think back over the past forty years, I can't even count the amount of people my dad has impacted, served, poured his life into, and pointed to Jesus. He is a spiritual giant, and the imprint of His life has affected so many it will long outlast His time here on earth. I can honestly say he loved Jesus well and he loved people well.
