Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Calvary Church. The following are the steps for becoming a member:
Involvement in the life of Calvary Church
In this seminar (also a pre-requisite to membership), you will learn about the vision, values, mission and purpose of Calvary Church. This class is a great opportunity for getting to know others while learning what Calvary believes, the history of the church, and how the church is structured to minister to you. If you'd like more information about the next membership seminar, please call 630-585-3265.
Our next Membership Seminar is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29, at 12:30 p.m.
To become a member at Calvary Church you must be baptized, serving in a ministry, and giving generously and sacrificially to Calvary Church. At the Membership Seminar, you will be given a copy of our Membership Application for your careful and prayerful study. Once you feel led by the Holy Spirit to make a commitment to becoming a member of Calvary, please complete the application and return it to the Membership Office. The pastoral staff will prayerfully consider your application. Once approved, we will set an appointment for your deacon interview. If necessary, one of the members of the pastoral staff may want to speak with you prior to setting up the deacon interview.
You do not have to be a member to start serving in a ministry at Calvary Church; however, you do need to be serving in a ministry prior to becoming a member. For a list of serving opportunities, click here.
The Bible teaches that giving of our financial resources is an important part of our commitment to the Lord. At Calvary Church, we want everyone to experience the spiritual growth and practical blessings that come from giving generously, regularly and sacrificially. However, we are opposed to the use of guilt or manipulation to try to force people to give. That is clearly unbiblical (2 Corinthians 9:7). At the same time, since membership at Calvary is a commitment and sets the example for others who attend Calvary, we do ask members to be committed to doing their best to tithe. We do not see this as a legalistic requirement but as a decision from the heart that is consistent with the teaching of Scripture. For additional information or teaching about the topic of giving—especially tithing—please contact our Membership Office at 630-585-3265.
We believe in Water Baptism by full immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation. Click here for Water Baptism information.
Once steps 1-3 have been completed, our Membership Office will call you to set up your deacon interview. Remember, the application and all requirements for membership must be completed prior to your deacon interview.
Congratulations, you made it! Your final step is to be officially received as a member of Calvary Church during a Sunday service. This service takes place two times each year. Our connections team will coordinate with you and schedule you to be officially received.
