Wednesdays are for discipleship.

We are all being formed - but what and who are we allowing to form us?  At Calvary we desire to be formed by God’s Word, and this requires us knowing it, studying it, mediating on it and receiving it into our heart and lives. That is why we are committing our Wednesday night programming to helping us become fully devoted followers of Christ.

CalvaryU: Engaging the Bible
Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m.

Why CalvaryU?

We believe that education and discipleship go hand in hand. To better follow Jesus, we need to know Jesus, and to better know Jesus, we need to dig into the Bible. These evenings of word, spirit and community will meet people at every stage of their faith journey.

"Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
— Romans 12:2 (ESV)

A look at Wednesday nights

Classes

201: How to Read the Bible
Ministry Training Center
This nine-week series is foundational to discipleship and gives the basis for understanding how we read and teach Scripture at Calvary (and how we allow it to read and teach us, too). For too many in the American Church, the English Bible is read through the lens of our perspectives instead of learning its perspective. Following Jesus and living on mission begin with knowing Scripture and reading it “rightly.”
301: Studying Scripture I: “The Gospels”
Seminar Room
While we find Jesus Christ in all of Scripture, it starts with the Gospels because they give us the life and teachings of Jesus. Our first module of studying Scripture this March explores the Synoptic Gospels leading to Easter (and then the Gospel of John in April and May). Our focus is getting to know the Word in order to live the Word. We must learn Christ in order to live Christ!
