From the pages of your Bible comes the true story of one of the most fascinating characters in all of history.
David was a legend in his own day—a pop star, general, royal ruler and pastor of a whole nation. He saw trials and triumphs; he lived selflessly and selfishly. Yet at the end of his life, it would be said about him, “He was a man after God’s own heart.”
Be part of the experience this fall as we discover why this king from long ago is still Famous Dave.
Sundays at 9 & 11 a.m.
Beginning Sept. 11
What is the value of one day? Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” What if we were able to see the opportunity in each day’s activities to bring worship to God?
One day can make all the difference.
This November, our OneDay series will show us the many ways that we can be difference makers in our community and around the world. Join us as we translate the everyday work of our hands into help, hope and love to someone else in need!
OneDayCounts: Nov. 6 with Pastor Ross
OneDayChallenge: Nov. 13 with Dr. Betta Mengistu
OneDayCelebration: Nov. 20 with David Crosby
Our next water baptism will be held during both Sunday services on November 20, 2016. Adults and children (grade 6 and older) are welcome. If you would like to be baptized, you will need to attend a 20-minute orientation on Sunday, November 13, after either service in the Fellowship Hall.
For more information, contact Becky at 630-585-3210 or email her.
During this winter season, we want to show the love of Christ by helping keep those in our community warm. Will you join this effort and help us collect and distribute this fall? Your “repurposed” coats will go directly to hundreds of men, women and children in the Chicagoland area who are homeless or have a low income.
No one should be without a coat this winter. Most of us have at least one coat in our closet that we don’t wear anymore. Take this opportunity to make a difference in your community. Please donate only new or gently used coats. And please make sure they're clean. We have extra need for children's active winter jackets and adult XL sizes.
From Oct. 9–30, we will have a few locations around the building where you can drop off your donations at any time of the week.
For more information about how you can make a difference, email us or call 630-585-3232.
Join us for our semi-annual business meeting. After we enjoy some snacks and fellowship, the night will include worship, Communion and an assessment of the spiritual life of Calvary Church. We will also elect deacons and deaconesses. Members are encouraged to attend, and everyone is welcome.
Wednesday, Nov. 9
For those who do not wish to attend the business meeting, we are offering an alternate Believer's Life class taught by Pastor Jason McElwee.
A day in your life might seem routine to you, but it can mean life-giving help for someone in need! OneDayChallenge is Calvary Church’s fall missions emphasis. Each year, we celebrate how the work of our hands—one day’s wage—can make a difference in our world.
