Substitute Teacher (Full-time, Exempt, 40 hrs/wk)

The Substitute Teacher must be able to step into a classroom environment to teach on short notice. Qualified substitutes must believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living and must be in agreement with Calvary Christian School's mission and philosophy of education. The Substitute Teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory to God.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Reflect the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity.
  • Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ.
  • Cooperate with the Principal and Administrative Team in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
  • Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Principal.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
  • Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a good learning environment.
  • Attend Substitute training with the Director of Education and Assistant to the principal

  • Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school (Hebrews 10:25).

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required
  • Illinois state PEL (teaching certificate) required
  • Teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred
